The Last Day of Summer Holiday

by Petra Jorgić

It was the last day of my summer holidays and I wasn’t expecting much to happen when all of a sudden my mum said that we should pack our things and go on a picnic! We all agreed...

It was still early when we arrived. When I stepped out of the car, I was captivated by the most beautiful sight that took my breath away. The cold steam was rising from the surface of the water and the trees that surrounded the lake looked greener than ever. We found a lovely little meadow, a quiet place, with a big, old oak tree in the middle of it. It’s bark was peeling from its trunk and its roots were peaking from the cold, wet soil.

We sat there for hours, we laughed and played and  saw many acquaintances who also knew, like us, how to use the day properly.

In the end of the day we watched the sun sink into the deep,  blue, sparkly water.

I will never forget this day because it was special and I will come back to this memory.
