How to Become a
Member of YALS
Dear Colleagues,
If you would like to join our Association simply fill in our application form, which you will find on the YALS website. Write a short description of your school and a CV of the school owner and send all these by post to YALS, together with a receipt for the payment of the equivalent in dinars of 25 Euros. Alternatively YALS could organize a presentation for you to which you would bring all these documents.
If you satisfy YALS requirements, an inspection of your school will be arranged, at your expense, and if your school meets our standards it will become an associate member of YALS and pay 50% of the YALS enrolment fee and 50% of the annual membership fee.
To become a full member of YALS, each school has to adapt its organization and documentation to YALS standards within 12 months of becoming an associate member. When this has been done, a new inspection will be scheduled and if your school fulfills all criteria it will become a full member of YALS and pay the remaining 50% of the enrolment and membership fees.
The enrolment criteria are laid down by our association and are applied to all our members equally. Each school should read them carefully before applying for membership.
YALS STANDARDS
Members of our association should satisfy specific criteria in the following catefories:
TEACHERS
- Owner / Manager: Graduate (BA) and five years of teaching experience
- Teachers: Qualified for teaching foreign languages
TEACHING PROGRAMME AND MATERIAL
- Clearly defined levels and programmes.
- Teaching material sufficient for all teachers.
- Appropriate testing system:
- to place students
- during the courses
- for issuing diplomas
PREMISES
- Appropriate classrooms for the planned number of students
- Appropriate equipment (blackboard, cassette player, other teaching devices)
- Appropriate light and heating system, hygiene and sanitary facilities
MANAGEMENT
- Advertising material corresponding to the real state of the school
- Proper administration of students, enrollment procedure, course attendance, tests and issued diplomas
- A prominently displayed notice of YALS membership as well as information about students' rights
OTHER
- System for teacher training and development
- Library for students
- Additional equipment
- Separate room for administration
